Gardaí are appealing for information after a pipe bomb and ammunition were found in Co Galway.
As part of an intelligence-led operation, officers conducted a search of lands at Scalp Hill, Castledaly on Tuesday morning.
At approximately 2.00pm they found two boxes of ammunition and a suspect device.
The Army Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit attended the scene and the suspect device was made safe.
Gardaí in Gort say this is believed to be components of a pipe bomb.
All items are undergoing a technical examination.
Gardaí say this is a popular hill walking location and are appealing to the public who may have been in this area recently, and who may have information, to contact them.

Officers say investigations are ongoing.
