Gardaí in County Clare are carrying out door-to-door inquiries after a schoolboy was airlifted to hospital following an apparent assault yesterday.
The 13-year-old was allegedly attacked by two teens in the town of Ennistymon at lunchtime yesterday.
It is believed the two teens may have been from another school in the area.
The boy was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick where he was treated for head injuries. He has undergone scans and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Inspector Paul Slattery from Kilrush Garda Station told Clare FM that a forensic examination of the scene has also been carried out:
“What we would be asking for is anyone who was in the area of Monastery Lane between 1pm and 2pm on Wednesday the 10th of May who may have noticed something suspicious or something going on in the area to please contact the gardaí in Ennistymon on 065 707 2180,” he said.
