Appeal for witnesses after man dies in Co Monaghan house fire

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal house fire in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan in the early hours of Monday morning.

A man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene at St Macartans Villas.

A post mortem was carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis. The results have been given to the investigation team.

The cause of the blaze, which happened at around 1.30am, has not been established.

Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of St Macartans Villas between 7pm last Sunday and 2am Monday morning to contact them at Carrickmacross Garda Station on 042-969-0190, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda station.
