Adam Clayton's former personal assistant will have to wait until next month to find out if an appeal against her conviction for stealing from him has been successful.

Carol Hawkins of Lower Rathmines Road in Dublin was jailed for seven years after stealing almost €3m from bank accounts of the U2 star.

During her trial, Mr Clayton admitted giving Hawkins access to two of his bank accounts, but said he never consented to the four year spending spree that led to her being jailed for seven years back in 2012.

From 2004 to 2008, the court heard she spent €2.8m on racehorses, expensive clothes, exotic holidays and an apartment in New York.

Today the Court of Criminal Appeal was asked to overturn her conviction and the sentence handed down.

Her lawyers claim the musician should not have been allowed to listen to the evidence of expert witnesses before he took to the stand himself.

They have also raised disclosure issues and have challenged some of the judge's rulings - as well as the legislation she was charged under.

The three-judge panel heard from both sides today and will make its judgement known next month.
