The Right2Water campaign say they do not believe violent scenes seen at recent protests undermine their campaign.
They're planning another mass demonstration for December 10.
John Douglas is General Secretary with Mandate trade union who are one of the organisers of the event. He says the violent protesters are not part of their campaign:
Brendan Ogle, organiser with the Right2Water campaign, spoke to Lunchtime with Jonathan Healy today and stated that there is not a sinister fringe to the protests and that this plays into the hands of Enda Kenny and others who want to portray it as sinister.
He said that the Right2Water campaign have always intended the protests to be peaceful:
Meanwhile, a series of incidents involving ministers at anti-water charge protests over the last few days is not being taken lightly.
It is reported this morning that gardaí will be checking on security at government members' homes and mobile patrols will be increased in the surrounding areas.
Last night the Taoiseach Enda Kenny found himself at the centre of the latest scuffles arising out of a protest in Sligo.
Hundreds of people turned out for a demonstration as Mr Kenny arrived for an event, with some surrounding his car, and one man climbing on the bonnet.
One woman was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.
Afterwards, Mr Kenny was asked if he was frightened by the incident:
