A man behind an anti-eviction campaign at a stud farm in Co. Kildare has apologised unreservedly to the High Court, after admitting he was in contempt of court.

It is claimed Charles Allen Snr, of Prior Park, Inistigoe, Kilkenny had alleged to be an owner of the land through his Rudolphus Allen Family Private Trust.

Charlie Allen has admitted breaching orders not to trespass or interfere with 120 acres of land at Kennycourt Stud, near Naas, Co. Kildare.

Receivers appointed to the stud claim he led a mob that forced their agents from the property for several weeks last autumn.

He was arrested this week in Cork on foot of a bench warrant.

At first in court Mr Allen said he wasn’t aware court orders were in place, but Mr Justice Sean Ryan told him he had to accept that he knew what he was doing if he intended to purge his contempt.

He then gave an unreserved apology for his actions, which the judge branded ‘shocking, grossly unlawful and of a kind that cannot and won't be tolerated'.

Charlie Allen has not been punished but he has to return to the High Court this afternoon in a separate matter.
