Irish broadcaster Amanda Byram is to host the IFTA Television Awards on October 22nd.

The inaugural TV awards ceremony will take place at the DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel, and be broadcast on TV3 on October 25th.

It was announced earlier this year that the IFTA ceremony had been split into two separate categories - film and television.

Byram has hosted major TV shows across the UK and the US for the past 15 years - including on Sky, the BBC, Channel 4, ABC and ITV.

Last year she also presented Sky's Oscars coverage with Alex Zane, and she launched her adventure show 'RV Rampage' on The Travel Channel.

CEO of the Irish Film and Television Academy, Áine Moriarty, welcomed Amanda into her new role saying: "We are delighted to have Amanda host the inaugural IFTA Gala Television Awards Ceremony as she is one of Ireland's great TV talents and a great ambassador for Ireland internationally".

Byram herself added: "I am so honoured to be hosting the IFTA Gala TV Awards. Having been a spectator and a supporter of the IFTAS since day one, so this is a dream gig for me".

"I believe that supporting Irish talent and the industry is of the utmost importance. It is also important to acknowledge, support and reward those who work so hard to make the Irish TV industry what it is".
