Gardai in Dublin are investigating a shooting incident which occurred at Croftwood housing estate in Ballyfermot shortly after 10pm this evening.

A 6 year old boy received an apparent gun shot injury at a house in Croftwood.

He's been taken to Our Lady's hospital in Crumlin where he's being treated for his injuries.

The scene is currently sealed off pending a Garda forensic examination.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
