Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD and Richard Bruton TD, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation made the announcement earlier.

The new staff will work in developing new technologies and supporting innovation in global financial institutions.

The expansion will see Infosys create up to 95 roles at its first dedicated product-centric research and development centre outside India, and a further 155 roles at a second Irish site where IT staff will be based.

More than 250 people already work for Infosys in Ireland.

Martin Shanahn, CEO of IDA Ireland said: "Attracting Asian companies is a key part of IDA Ireland’s strategy. Infosys’ investment shows that Ireland has a lot to offer Indian and other Asian companies."
