A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being injured in a car crash in County Cork.
Emergency services are at the scene on the N20 around one kilometre north of Buttevant.
The crash involved two vehicles and happened just after 11am.
The road is closed in both directions and diversions are in place.
It comes as Gardaí warn people to drive with care over New Year's weekend.
Sixteen people have died on Irish roads since Gardaí launched their Christmas drink driving campaign at the start of this month.
Tom Mullarkey, Regional Traffic Superintendent for the Eastern region, says checkpoints will be place over the next few days. He said:
"We have recently carried out a number of motorway checkpoints in the last couple of months and surprisingly we have actually encountered people who have failed breath-testing at 11 o'clock in the morning on the motorways.
"So it is an issue and it's something that people need to be very, very conscious of the evening before, when they are planning their festivities and they're out having a drink. Be very conscious of it. You could still be over the limit the next morning. "
