A Los Angeles County sheriff’s sergeant is said to have been 'gravely wounded' in a shooting.
The incident happened in the Lancaster area in the north of the county at around 12.30pm local time.
According to the LA Times, one officer was shot and another injured when they responded to a call.
A SWAT team was dispatched, with local residents advised to stay away.
The sheriff's department later confirmed a suspect had been taken into custody following the search operation.
