Pregnant couple try to find place to live before Christmas

As figures show the number of mortgages arrears has fallen, the rental market is as in-demand as ever.

One such property is a one-bedroom apartment just off the Navan Road in Dublin - being advertising for €1,200 a month.

Around 40 groups of people were seen coming and going from the lunchtime viewing of the property.

Newstalk Drive reporter Henry McKean was there, and spoke to people who are looking for a place to live.

"We don't want to be homeless - our daughter is six and our son is five, It's a very, very difficult situation", a family from Poland said.

Maria is a nurse originally from the Philippines, living in Ireland for 15 years.

"We're a family of three persons...We're happy with a job no problem here for a long time....doing nursing.

"Our old apartment there, it's very tight for us. My son saying to me that hopefully we're not going to be homeless", she added.

21-year-old Jennifer is originally from Nigeria and heavily pregnant.

She moved to Ireland as a child, and is now looking for a place to live with her husband.
