A man in his 30s is being held at Kilkenny Garda Station in connection with her death.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are asking anyone with information to contact them at Kilkenny Garda Station on 056-777-5000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.

"Gardai are particularly appealing to anybody who visited the local Costcutter shop, or who may have been in the Bridge Street area of Freshford Village, between the hours of 8am and 1pm on Sunday the 14th May and who may have heard or noticed anything out of the ordinary to contact them," officers said in a statement.

Michael O'Toole is the Crime Correspondent with the Irish Daily Star. He explained: "At this stage it would be classed as a suspicious death.

"It may have been accidental, it may have been something more sinister. The fact that a man has been arrested shows that Gardaí are very suspicious about this."
