Republican vice-presidential candidate Mike Pence is following the lead of Donald Trump and his hard-line stance on immigration.
In an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union", Pence said: "There will be no path to legalization, no path to citizenship. People who want to gain legal status - you heard Donald Trump say again and again - will have to leave this country".

He was referring to undocumented immigrants, including those whose visas expire but who remain in the country. Trump has previously referenced creating a "deportation force" to follow up with these individuals.
Pence suggested this idea was more of a mechanism than a policy and their campaign will outline a more in-depth policy on immigration in the coming weeks.
"You see a CEO at work. You see someone who is engaging the American people, listening to the American people, hearing from all sides," he added.
