After the property crash and the onset of Ireland's economic crisis rental prices in Dubin bottomed out in 2010, and rose to an average of €1,041 (State's Private Residential Tenancies Board data) for the county as a whole in 2013.

The market has risen rapidly since then, today the Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB) released data showing that rents in the capital are almost 0.5% higher than they were in 2007, due to a rise of nearly 2% in the last quarter of 2015.

This is the only apartment available on Daft.ie for the 2013 average rate in Dublin's city center:

It features one double bedroom, fitted wardrobes, and a living and dining area and is located on Upper Gardiner Street.

Broadening the net

There are 29 properties listed on the website for less than €1,050 across the county.

Nationwide there were just over 3,600 properties available to rent on February 1st - down from 5,200 12 months before (Daft figures). This was the lowest level of availability recorded in the country.

Nationally, rents rose by almost 10% last year, but rents outside Dublin are still 14.5% lower than they were at their peak.
