What do The Boss and the porn site xHamster have in common? They both prefer pulling out of North Carolina rather than putting up with a recent law that discriminates against LGBT people

Taking a leaf out of the books of PayPal, Bryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen, the site has restricted access to its wares to people whose IP address is in North Carolina. That state's legislature recently passed a law which blocked any attempt to pass anti-discrimination rules, which would grant protections to gay and transgender people.

People from the southern state hoping to satisfy their urges by logging on to the world's 91st most visited site were instead urged to stop the homophobic insanity.

As the site points out, 491,925 North Carolinans have already looked up the 'SheMale' section on the site in 2016, while a further 48,585 have looked up the term in the search bar. 319, 907 have clicked into the 'Gay' category on the site, while 50,612 have typed 'gay' into the sites search engine.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, spokesperson for the site Mike Kulich said "we have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory, which XHamster.com does not tolerate.

"Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them."
