Chris Sevier has filed a lawsuit against the Harris County, Texas district clerk Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton for denying him the right to marry his Mac.
The reason Sevier is attempting to marry his Mac in the first place has nothing to do with love, however.
He is trying to prove that a landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized same-sex marriage [Obergefell v. Hodges], people are now allowed to marry whomever they are attracted to, equating inanimate objects to people of the same gender.
Speaking to Houston Press, Sevier said: "The question is, should we have policies that encourage that kind of lifestyle? The state is not doing anyone any favors by encouraging people to live that lifestyle. We have to define marriage."
"[This lawsuit] is not a matter of who's on the right side of history. This is about who is on the right side of reality. Are we just delusional?”
Attorney General Ken Paxton has already filed a motion to dismiss Sevier’s case, despite Paxton himself gave local county clerks right to refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples last year.
Sevier is not restricting the lawsuit to just Texas however, with plans only starting in Texas before moving on to a further twelve states.
