A man who was knocked down in a hit and run overnight is in a critical condition in hospital.
A vehicle struck the man at Hazelwood Drive in the Coolock area of Dublin at around 9.45pm last night. The vehicle has been described as a white Renault Megane van.
The man - who is in his late 20s - was out jogging at the time of the collision.
The injured man was taken to Beaumont Hospital after receiving medical assistance at the scene. His condition is described as critical.
A vehicle was discovered burnt out a short time later at Beechlawn Grove, near Parnells GAA club.
The vehicle was seized for a technical examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly those who may have seen a white-coloured Renault Megane van in the Coolock area before or after the collision.
They are interested in talking to anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the Hazelwood and Beechlawn areas between 9pm-10.30pm.
