Luas drivers will push on with their pay claim - despite the threat of a 10% cut to their wages if they continue to strike.

On Thursday night, drivers discussed the threat by Transdev to cut their pay from Friday morning and decided to continue with their industrial action.

Drivers are taking the action in support of a pay claim of over 20%, and downed tools for the ninth time yesterday.

A further five strike days are scheduled for May, starting next Wednesday.

Gerry Madden of Luas operator Transdev has urged drivers to follow the example of other Luas staff - who have accepted a pay rise of 13%.

Owen Reidy from SIPTU - the union which represents the drivers - says it is important that they try to negotiate a settlement.

However, he says "the company won't talk, and they have said they are going to dock workers' pay by 10%.

"We had a meeting with the workers and they were very clear in their resolve that they will not be humiliated," he added.

While services have been restored on the Luas Green line following earlier disruption.

Trams were not running earlier due to a technical fault at the Sandyford depot.

The company says trams are running as normal, but with some slight delays.
