Fine Gael's annual pre-Dáil think-in gets underway in County Tipperary today.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will open the conference later this morning, with a focus on the challenges of health and homelessness.

There will also be a look ahead to next month's budget.

The party's 50 TDs and 19 senators are due in Clonmel, having lost the party's seats in the Tipperary constituency in last year's general election.

It comes only months after the party appointed a new leader, deputy leader and Minister for Finance.

The housing crisis will be high on the agenda.

Yesterday, Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy updated the Cabinet on the revision of the Rebuilding Ireland plan, which runs until 2021.

Minister Murphy said there are currently 90,000 people on housing waiting lists, and it's his intention to deliver 130,000 solutions.

The focus will be on building social houses, as opposed to acquiring and retrofitting existing ones.

Party members are also expected to insist they are 'general election ready'.
