The final Fine Gael leadership debate has finished after a feisty clash between contenders Simon Coveney and Leo Varadkar.

Minister for Social Protection Varadkar came out swinging, accusing Minister for Housing Coveney of having a broad vision without achieving results.

He was booed by sections of the crowd at points, and  Coveney Leo Varadkar was only planning to look after certain sections of society.

Coveney said he wants to build "a just society for the 21st century" that promotes inclusion regardless of social standing.

Meanwhile, Fine Gael said there enough people criticising Fine Gael without doing it from within the party lines. 

"Fine Gael has enough enemies," he said. "There are enough commentators on the left in the newspapers, from Vincent Browne to everyone on Twitter [...] There are enough people who want to misrepresent our party as being uncaring."

Polls open for some 21,000 Fine Gael members to start voting tomorrow.
