Maha Al-Adheem was arrested yesterday
A doctor has appeared in court charged with murdering her three-year old son at their home in Dublin.
Omar Omran's body was found on Monday evening when gardaí called to an apartment in Kimmage.
They forced their way into the one-bedroom apartment at the Riverside complex on the south side of Dublin at around 7.00pm on Monday evening.
He had been stabbed to death.
His mother, Maha Al-Adheem, was arrested yesterday morning.
Today, Detective Sergeant Brendan O’Halloran from Sundrive Road garda station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution before Judge Michael Walsh at Dublin District Court.
After being charged with her son's murder at 1.16am today, he said she replied: "Yes, it was my knife. Yes, it was my hand. It was not me. It was the power."
The 42-year-old doctor, who moved to Ireland from Iraq a few years ago, did not address the court at any stage.
There was no application for bail today because that can only be applied for in the High Court so she was remanded in custody for a week.
