Today we spoke to Maura Dolan about her experience of a pregnancy with a fatal foetal abnormality.

She contacted Newstalk Lunchtime after hearing Rebecca Cody's story on Monday's programme of travelling to Liverpool for a termination after being told that her son Christopher Dennis was incompatible with life. She called on the Government to legislate for women travelling abroad to end a pregnancy that is incompatible with life.

Maura told us about her son Patrick and how she and her husband spent 'weeks agonizing over the decision' to end her pregnancy after being told her son had a fatal foetal abnormality.

She describes travelling home after the procedure ; 'We brought Patrick home with us on the ferry, we had to leave him in the boot while we went up on deck, it was heartbreaking'

She says 'It really angers me that people feel that shame when all they are trying to do is the best thing for their family'.

Maura has called on the government to 'show some humanity' when it comes to cases of fatal foetal abnormality.
