A bomb has been found in Derry overnight.
The viable explosive device was recovered during a security alert in the Gelvin Gardens area of the city at about 5pm yesterday.
A number of residents were evacuated while security forces examined the scene, and the device was made safe a short time later.
A forensic examination will now be carried out and the PSNI is appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
A second alert near a primary school in Dunmurry, Co Antrim ended at lunchtime after PSNI officers declared a device found there to be a hoax.
Meanwhile, the PSNI is warning all staff working in jobs related to the security services - even civilians - of a significant threat to their safety from dissident Republicans, in the run-up to the 1916 Centenary celebrations.
