Two women have been killed in a road traffic collision in Louth.
It happened on the N2, south of Ardee, at around 6.30pm Monday evening.
The two pedestrians were aged in their 60s, and were fatally injured when they were struck by a car.
They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their bodies have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
The driver of the car was not injured.
This stretch of road has been closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators - local diversions are in place.
The road is expected to remain closed overnight.
