Gardaí in Dublin have launched a murder investigation after the death of a man at a house in the city on Sunday.
The incident occurred at a flat on North Circular Road, Dublin 7 at around 8.30pm.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, where Gary O'Brien - who was 51 - suffered gunshot wounds.
Mr O'Brien - a father & grandfather who had limited mobility - was originally from Finglas.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Forensic examinations are continuing.
Officers initially thought the man's injuries may have been self-inflicted but no weapon was found at the scene.
A man and woman - both in their 30s - were detained overnight in connection with the investigation.
They are being held at two city centre Garda Stations.
