A Dublin teenager who lost his life in a tragic road accident in Jordan over the weekend has been remembered as “a gentleman” who had a “bright future ahead of him.”

Mohammed Alrawehneh, an 18-year-old student at Firhouse Community College died following the accident on Friday.

The teenager was originally from Jordan – but had been living in Firhouse for some time.

He sat his leaving certificate at the college last month and is remembered as a talented young footballer who played for Shamrock Rovers at various underage levels.

In a statement on Facebook, the Dublin club offered their condolences to his family and friends.

Firhouse Community College principal Senan Nolan told The Herald that that the entire school is “shocked and saddened” at the loss.

 “Mohammed was a gentleman and a popular member of the school,” he said. “It’s a real tragedy. He was a young, capable man with a bright future ahead of him.”

“Our thoughts are with his family and in particular his younger brother Ahmed who is currently in our school’s junior cycle.”

The accident reportedly happened about 22km east of the Jordanian capital, Amman where Mohammed was on holiday visiting friends and relatives.

The tragic collision reportedly also took the life of another teenager and left a third with life-threatening injuries.
