Leaked transcripts have revealed details of phone calls between Donald Trump and the leaders of Mexico and Australia.
The documents published by the Washington Post detail calls made in late January, a week after President Trump's inauguration.
The first call saw Trump and Mexico's Enrique Peña Nieto discuss their views on the proposed border wall between the two countries. An executive order calling for preparatory work on the controversial wall was one of President Trump's first actions in office.
According to the transcript, President Peña Nieto argued: "I have recognized the right of any government to protect its borders as it deems necessary and convenient. But my position has been and will continue to be very firm saying that Mexico cannot pay for that wall."
Mr Trump responded: "You cannot say that to the press. They are going to say, 'who is going to pay for the wall, Mr President?' to both of us, and we should both say 'we will work it out'.
"It will work out in the formula somehow. As opposed to you saying 'we will not pay' and me saying 'we will not pay'.
"If you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that."
President Trump also stated: "The fact is we are both in a little bit of a political bind because I have to have Mexico pay for the wall – I have to."
"Putin was a pleasant call"
The transcripts released today also reveal further details of a previously reported heated phone exchange with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
President Trump described the phone call - which took place on January 28th, a day after the Peña Nieto call - as "the most unpleasant call" he had with world leaders that day.
According to the leaked transcript, President Trump heavily criticised a refugee deal agreed between the US and Australia.
The then newly-inaugurated president slammed what he said was a "horrible" and "disgusting" deal that "is an embarrassment to the United States of America".
Defending the deal, the Mr Turnbull said: "This is a big deal. It is really, really important to us that we maintain it. It does not oblige you to take one person that you do not want."
Shortly before abruptly ending the phone call, the US president reportedly claimed: "I have had it. I have been making these calls all day and this is the most unpleasant call all day. Putin was a pleasant call. This is ridiculous."
