Talks aimed at resolving the Dublin Bus pay row are into their third day.

Strike action for yesterday and today was been suspended.

However drivers still plan mount pickets this weekend during the all Ireland football final replay.

Unions and management are attempting to bridge the gap in their respective pay proposals - with staff seeking a 15% pay rise over the next three years.

Further work stoppages are also scheduled for the following dates in October: Wednesday 5th, Friday 7th, Monday 10th, Wednesday 12th, Friday 14th, Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th, Monday 24th, Wednesday 26th and Saturday 29th.

Speaking earlier, SIPTU's Owen Reidy said it was too premature to say whether this weekend's action will go ahead.

Meanwhile the Oireachtas Transport Committee has agreed to two days of hearings on public transport and the state subvention.

A case is to be put for a massive increase in the subvention and opposition to privatisation to all participants.

Anti-Austerity Alliance TD Mick Barry said: "We have made representations for such a discussion to take place at the Oireachtas Committee from the moment the Dublin Bus Strike loomed.

"Now two days hearings have been set aside on 5th and 19th October."

He says he is "satisfied" invitations will be extended to SIPTU and the NBRU to come to the second day of hearings.

He says he will also make the case to the National Transport Authority (NTA) and the minister to scrap the plans to privatise 10% of Dublin Bus routes.
