A ban on so-called "happy hours" for sunbed use comes into effect today.

The new regulations block unlimited or free use of tanning beds.

They will also mean supervision and warning signs on commercial premises.

While protective eyewear will have to be worn to tackle eye cancer.

The new rules follow a ban on sunbed use for under-18s introduced last summer.

The Irish Cancer Society (ICS) has stopped short of calling for an outright ban.

But Rosemary Scott, health promotion officer with the ICS, told Newstalk Breakfast there are many myths out there.
