A 56 year old man who was arrested in connection with an incident on board an aircraft at Dublin Airport today is expected to appear in court this morning.

He was arrested earlier along with two women in connection with an Ebola hoax on a plane from Milan.

The man had shown a plastic cup to a flight attendant marked ''Attentione Ebola''.

A flight attendant immediately notified the Captain who alerted authorities. The plane was cordoned off on the apron for an hour, while an investigation involving Airport police, the HSE and the Dublin Airport Authority was carried out.

Two women, aged 51 and 23, who were also arrested in connection with the incident were tonight released without charge.

The cordon was lifted at 2.15pm and all crew and passengers were permitted to disembark.

It is understood the incident was a hoax.

Dublin Airport Authority said in a statement: "Following a minor security incident on board an Aer Lingus flight from Milan to Dublin, passengers were held on board the aircraft after it landed at Dublin Airport just before 1pm today.

"As a precaution, the incident was fully investigated by before passengers and crew disembarked as normal. The incident is now a matter for the gardaí."
