The third opinion poll of the last weekend of the general election campaign shows a narrow race between Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil.

The Sunday Independent poll has just a four point gap between the two parties. However, the two other polls released over the last 24 hours show a wider gap.

Millward Browne for the Sunday Independent polled 1,065 people on Wednesday and Thurdsay and has released the findings tonight.

It puts Fine Gael on 27%, Fianna Fáil on 23%, Sinn Féin on 19%, Independents on 13%, Labour on 6%, People Before Profit / Anti Austerity Alliance on 5%, Social Democrats on 4%, the Greens and Renua on 2% each and Socialist Party on 1%.

Earlier this evening, the Sunday Business Post released findings of a Red C poll was carried out among 1,010 people between Monday and Wednesday.

Fine Gael goes up 2% to 30% compared to last weekend, or up four compared to another Red C poll midweek for the Irish Sun.

Coalition partners Labour are unchanged in that poll compared to last weekend on 8%, or down 1% on the midweek.

Fianna Fáil are unchanged on 18%, but Sinn Féin drop four points to 16%.

Independents and others go up 2 points to 28% - within that Independent candidates are on 14%, and the People Before Profit / Anti Austerity Alliance are on 3%.

The Social Democrats are on 4%, as are the Greens, while Renua are on 2% and others on 1%.

An earlier poll conducted on Monday and Tuesday among 1,026 people by Behaviour and Attitudes for the Sunday Times also had Fine Gael on 30, but had Labour down at 4.

Fianna Fáil were on 22, Sinn Féin on 15 and others on 29.
