For this Bank Holiday weekend on ‘Talking Books’ Susan will be taking a look back at two of the most popular shows from the summer.
Part one will feature Nigerian poet and novelist Ben Okri. Ben won the Booker Prize in 1991 following troublesome times during his fledgling years as a writer, which at one point left him homeless. Susan and Ben discussed these troubles and more during their chat, as we gained a unique and rare insight into one of the most extraordinary literary minds of today.
In part two, Susan will revisit the issue of suicide with author and historian Jennifer Michael Hecht. Susan spoke with Jennifer about her book ‘Stay: A History of Suicide and the Philosophies Against It.’ This work was inspired by Jennifer’s personal experience, as she writes passionately and thoroughly on the subject, giving a strong insight into an unfortunate issue that is all too common.
