Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information about the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby girl whose remains were found in a recycling plant in Wicklow.

The child, who was named Alannah by officers investigating the case, was discovered by a staff member at the Greenstar waste facility in Bray on May 4th.

Postmortem results on the infant’s body found nothing to suggest any deliberate harm was done to her.

Superintendent Pat Ward, who is in charge of the inquiry, today appealed on her mother to come forward.

"Three months have passed since the discovery of baby Alannah," he said.

"I am concerned for the welfare of baby Alannah’s mum. She is most likely in an anxious state of mind and in need of medical assistance.

"I appeal to mum to immediately seek medical treatment. Myself or Sergeant Sorcha Fitzpatrick are available at Bray garda station to provide assistance to mum and dad. We will handle any contact discreetly and sensitively."

Anyone with information can contact gardaí in Bray on 01 666 5300, the garda confidential telephone line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
