A recruitment drive for Irish nurses to work in hospitals at home and abroad will take place at a jobs fair in Dublin this weekend.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) has warned that the number of frontline nurses in Irish hospitals has fallen despite recruitment campaigns over the past year.

Stephen McLarnon is the CEO of Health Sector Jobs, a healthcare recruiter.

He says that there is a massive demand for nurses worldwide, with Singapore and Australia prime destinations.

"Nursing is where the biggest demand is globally," McLarnon says. "There is a 2.2million-shortage worldwide shortage.

"It's a global problem, so one of things we are looking for this weekend is nurses across the range - from graduate nurses to clinical nurse managers."
