President Michael D Higgins has officially opened the Kilmainham courthouse, which will serve as a new visitor’s centre for the Gaol.
While the 1916 Rebel leaders were not tried at the Courthouse, the adjoining Gaol was the site of their executions.
Among the exhibits at the Gaol is a register of convicts including Constance Markiewicz.
