Police in Belfast have reopened an investigation into the brutal murder of 26-year-old David Clarke in 2001.
David, who had learning difficulties, was beaten to death at his apartment on the Forthriver Road in the early hours of 6th June.
Detectives say the attack became increasingly frenzied and resulted in David’s death.
Fixtures, fittings and ornaments in the apartment were also smashed during the incident.
The PSNI say they believe people in the community have information that can identify the killer, and have reopened the case.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Dickson said, “I have been a police officer for 28 years and a murder detective for 13 of those years. Apart from the wounds sustained by gunshot victims, David’s injuries are the worst I have seen. This was a frenzied and savage attack".
