People before Profit has accused Sinn Féin of misleading people over the Right2Change principles.

Sinn Féin announced it was signing up to the new political grouping, adding that it is a voting pact.

They party has said they will ask their supports to give second and third preference votes to the other left wing parties, regardless of if they reciprocate.

However People before Profit says that while it has signed up to the principles, it is not asking supporters to vote for Sinn Féin.

The new political grouping was set up by trade unions to campaign for the abolition of water charges and other austerity measures ahead of the next general election.

Dublin Councillor Bríd Smith explains:

The Social Democrats say that while they commend and support the principles outlined in the Right2Change document, they will not be participating in any pre-election pact.

The Anti Austerity Alliance has also declined signing up to Right2Change.
