A man has died following a collision in Co Limerick yesterday evening.

The incident happened on Lord Edward Street in Kilmallock at around 5.15pm.

A male pedestrian - who was in his mid-50s - was struck by a lorry.

He was pronounced dead at scene, and his body was taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem will take place.

Nobody else is reported to have been injured, and no arrests have been made.

The road has now reopened following a technical examination.

Gardaí are calling on witnesses and anyone with information - particularly anybody who was near Lord Edward Street yesterday evening between 4.30pm and 5.30pm - to contact them at Bruff Garda Station on 061-382-940, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or any Garda station.
