Police in Munich have confirmed that they have found the body of a man that they believe to be connected with the shooting at a shopping centre in the German city.
In a statement on social media, a spokesperson for the Munich Police stated that they "found a person in connection with the investigation" who had taken his own life.
While it is still at an early stage in the investigations, they state that they believe he is probably the perpetrator of the attack, and that they acted alone.
We found a man, who killed him himself.
We assume, that he was the only shooter. #gunfire #munich— Polizei München (@PolizeiMuenchen) 22 July 2016
Munich's transport network, which had been shut down as a result of the attack, was re-opened late on Friday night, at about 1am local time, as police gave the all-clear as a result of the discovery of the man's body.
Police say the Munich gunman was an 18-year-old German Iranian who had been living in the city.
