Farmers in areas worst-hit by recent floods are to be given further support.
The Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, has introduced an Emergency Flood Damage Relief scheme.
It will provide financial assistance to cover uninsured livestock losses after the floods.
Assistance will also be provided to cover the rental costs incurred where livestock had to be moved off farms and onto alternative lands because of potential welfare issues.
It will also extend to damage to certain structures and fittings.
Parteen Weir
Meanwhile, the ESB is increasing the level of water flowing through the Parteen Weir following heavy rain in recent days.
It will increase from 195 to 230 cubic metres per second.
It says the flow will continue make areas in Springfield, Montpelier, Castleconnell, Mountshannon and University of Limerick vulnerable to flooding.
*NOTE* Application Forms for Emergency Flood Damage Relief measure will be available on the Department of Agriculture's website from today, Thursday 28th January 2016, and from the Department's local office network.
