As the war in Syria enters its fifth year, NGOs are calling on the international community to intervene in the Syrian crisis.
Nearly 10 million Syrian refugees are living in neighbouring countries Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq, and aid agencies are near breaking point in dealing with the humanitarian outcome.
Niamh Cooper from World Vision Ireland says much of the millions of dollars pledged by countries does not materialise:
Médecins Sans Frontières currently runs six hospitals inside Syria and has established support networks for more than 100 medical facilities inside government and non-government controlled areas.
These networks allow dedicated Syrian medical staff to work in extremely hazardous conditions, bringing a minimum level of health care to populations trapped.
