Gardaí are continuing to question a man in connection with a fatal stabbing in Artane, Dublin yesterday evening.

Following a fatal stabbing attack at a house on Harmonstown Road in Artane at around 7.40pm on Thursday evening, a man in his 40s was was arrested and brought to Clontarf Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The victim has been named as Mark Richardson and was also in his 40s.

The victim is understood to have received a number of stab wounds, and died shortly after being brought to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

investigations are ongoing, although it is thought that the two men were the only people at the address at the time of the incident.
