A man is in a critical condition in a Dublin hospital this afternoon after being hit by a car in Co Wicklow overnight.

The pedestrian was struck on the Killarney Road in Bray at around one o'clock this morning.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin, but later transferred to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

The road has now re-opened after it was closed to allow for a technical examination.
