A 30-year-old man has been arrested following an armed robbery in Rush.
The suspect entered the post office in Rush early this morning and threatened staff with what Gardai believed to be a hatchet and a firearm.
Nothing was stolen in the incident. Following the robbery, the suspect was stopped on the M1 by Gardaí from Balbriggan and Swords.
He is currently being detained at Balbriggan Garda Station under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
He is expected to appear at Swords District Court at 10.30am tomorrow.
