A water charge protest held in Jobstown in Tallaght today has passed off peacefully.

The area in Dublin was the site of angry scenes last week which saw the Tánaiste trapped in her car by demonstrators.

Joan Burton was also spat on as she left a graduation ceremony in a local college.

Gardaí were on hand again for today's protest - however there were no arrests or reports of public order incidents.

The event was one of several marches today calling for water charges to be scrapped - the Anti Water Meter Task Force also took to the streets of Waterford.
