There have been a few shocks in day two of the general election count.

Fine Gael's Jimmy Deenihan has lost his seat in Kerry after 29 years in parliament, and Labour TD Ged Nash lost his seat.

The Junior Minister for Business and Employment failed to be re-elected in the Louth constituency.

There was mixed news for the outgoing Cabinet today.

Labour deputy leader Alan Kelly was re-elected in Tipperary.

The Children's Minister and Fine Gael Deputy leader, James Reilly, lost his seat in the Dublin-Fingal constituency.

But the Jobs Minister Richard Bruton was re-elected in Dublin Bay North.

Speaking to Newstalk.com's Oisin Langan, Mr Deenhian says he sees only one option for government.
