Thierry Henry has confirmed that he has played his final game for the New York Red Bulls and will leave at the end of his current contract.

In a statement, the former Arsenal, Barcelona and France striker said he has enjoyed his four and a half years in the MLS.

But the 37-year old's stopped short of announcing his retirement and said he would spend the next few weeks contemplating his next step.

Henry has recently spoken of his desire to take up a future coaching role at Arsenal where he is regarded as a club legend.

"One thing is certain — I will stay in football, as a coach, a consultant or executive. We will see," he said recently.

Henry's final game was an aggregate defeat to New England Patriots in the MLS Cup semi-final.

In his time in the United States, Henry scored 51 goals in 122 games, winning four MLS All Star awards and an MLS Supporter's Shield in 2013.
