Little more than a month after being awarded $115 million – plus $25m in punitive damages – in an invasion of privacy lawsuit against Gawker Media, Hulk Hogan has sued the gossip website again.

The legendary wrestler, whose real name is Terry Bollea, is now claiming that Gawker leaked sealed court documents containing a transcript that quoted him making racist remarks about his daughter's black ex-boyfriend.

Following the publication of National Enquirer story exposing Bollea's comments, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) decided to fire their former star. 

Gawker has denied any wrongdoing:

"This is getting ridiculous. Hulk Hogan is a litigious celebrity abusing the court system to control his public image and media coverage...

"It’s time for Hulk Hogan to take responsibility for his own words, because the only person who got Hulk Hogan fired from the WWE is Hulk Hogan".

The lawsuit also accuses two DJs, a radio company, a talent agent and a lawyer of conspiring to send media outlets the sex tape at the centre of the original case, and causing Bollea economic harm and emotional distress.

In a statement, Bollea's spokesperson Elizabeth Traub said:

"Mr Bollea said from the beginning that he would seek to hold all persons and entities fully responsible for their wrongful actions. This lawsuit seeks to do just that".

Gawker was hit with the first lawsuit after it posted a 2007 video of Bollea having sex with Heather Clem, who was the wife of his then-best friend Bubba The Love Sponge Clem.

Bollea said he felt betrayed by Bubba The Love Sponge, a Tampa DJ, and had not realised he was being filmed.

In a Pinellas County court in Florida, he also said:

"I would run into kids who would say, 'I'd downloaded the Hulk Hogan Wrestlemania video, and Hulk Hogan sex tape came up'".

Gawker is currently seeking a retrial.
