Hollywood actor George Clooney, has said that the money gathered at fundraisers he held for Hillary Clinton, was 'obscene.'
Speaking on NBC, Clooney commented on events, such as one in San Francisco, where $353,400 was reached per couple.
Clooney said:
"I think it’s an obscene amount of money. I think – you know that we had some protesters last night when we pulled up in San Francisco and they’re right to protest, they’re absolutely right, it is an obscene amount of money."
"The Sanders campaign when they talk about it is absolutely right. It’s ridiculous that we should have this kind of money in politics. I agree, completely."
Responding to Clooney's remarks, Hillary Clinton's opponent Bernie Sanders commended the actor for 'his integrity and honesty on this issue.'
Fundraising has surfaced a number of times during the presidential campaign, with Sanders generating much of his financial backing via small donations. Clooney’s events, in San Francisco on Friday and Los Angeles, attracted criticism from the Sanders campaign and protests were held at the event on Friday.

Sander says:
"One of the great tragedies is that big money is buying elections. There is something wrong when a few people, in this case wealthy individuals are able to contribute unbelievably large sums of money. That is not what democracy is about. That is a movement toward oligarchy."
